The Cliffs of Moher are the most visited site in Ireland. This beautiful place is located on the west side of the country, and it represents a mandatory stop if you are visiting Ireland. The coasts run for more than 14 kilometres and they reach a highness of 120 metres above the Atlantic Ocean.
The best way to reach the site is to go to Doolin, a lovely village where you can spend the night, and from there you can start the visit: if you are lucky and there’s a good weather you can also see Aran’s Island which is located in front of the coast.
It is recommended to go to this amazing site during spring and summer, but of course it is also the period where there are many people, making the coast very crowded. If you prefer to enjoy your visit calmly you can still do it during autumn and spring, but you would have to face the incredible cold, which would make your life there a little bit more difficult.
How to visit the Cliffs of Moher
There are many different ways to follow when visiting the Cliffs of Moher. All the different pathways start from the visitor’s centre. The most famous way is Hag’s Head, which is on the southern part of the coast. From there, it’s possible to reach one of the most photographed locations in the entire country, but that doesn’t mean that it represents the best possible view. Indeed, if you are searching for that you have to go to O’Brien’s Tower, which was built in 1835, and it costs only 2€. The tower guarantee you a beautiful view of Connemara, Aran’s Island and Loop Head.
It’s very important to dress in the right way if you want to enjoy your visit as much as possible. Ireland is a very cloudy and rainy country, so you have to be ready for this kind of meteorological events: don’t forget a raincoat and windproof jacket! Finally, you need comfortable shoes because as you can imagine the ground is not very regular and it would be necessary to walking for a long time if you want to enjoy the site as far as possible.
